MACBETH

From little acorns… You never know where or when a job is going to lead to. Even more so an impromptu photoshoot.

Several years ago, during the Curtain Call years, our crew went to record a podcast with actor Ralph Fiennes. I was charged with getting a photo, and was given about a minute to do so. Within the space of 60 seconds I was able to get a few frames that we were happy with.

This led to being invited backstage to photograph Ralph and the company of Richard III. A foundation was laid for a trusted relationship and I was invited backstage to Ralph’s next production at the National Theatre. Over the years we have worked together several times, and recently I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph him, Indira Varma and the rest of the company of Simon Godwin’s production of Macbeth.

Rehearsals took place in London, ahead of the multi-venue tour that starts in Liverpool and ends in Washington, D.C.

If you can look into the sands of time and know which grain will grow, and which will not.
— Shakespeare, Macbeth
